ISLAMABAD, Apr 21 Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leaders
‘opposed’ political alliance with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for
anti-government movement.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman chaired JUI-F Central General Council meeting in
which party leaders opposed the alliance with PTI and suggested
initiating anti-government moment on its own, the sources said.
The meeting decided to establish contacts with all political parties. It
was decided not to enter into an alliance with the PTI before launching
an anti-government movement, saying there is no unity in the party and
that its leaders do not speak the same language.
The meeting also opposed the KP Mines and Minerals Bil.
However, sources disclosed, that the participants of the meeting said
that the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman would have the final word on
the matter.
It is worth-mentioning here that both parties had held meetings to form
an anti-government alliance.
It was believed that the PTI was not able to give a tough time to the
coalition government on its own and it was only by uniting with the
JUI-F that it could create problems for the present setup.
However later, the hopes for the formation of an alliance began to die
down as the PTI leaders began dilly-dallying on the matter. And the
statements issued by KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur against Maulana
Fazl further diminished the prospects for an alliance.
Earlier, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader Hafiz Hamdullah also ruled
out any alliance with the PTI.
Hafiz Hamdullah in his interview with a private television channel, said
more than three months had passed, but the PTI did not address JUI
concerns, adding the PTI leaders lacked trust with regard to walk with
JUI.
“A majority of PTI members are in jail. So, in these circumstances, we
cannot stand with them. The PTI leadership is indecisive on initiating
talks with the JUI for the formation of an alliance,” he said, adding,
“As three months have passed, they did not address our concerns. We can
go issue-to-issue with the PTI in the parliament, if it is necessary
