Time to stop fighting: Trump offers help on Kashmir dispute

ISLAMABAD, May 11 US President Donald Trump has offered to help
resolve the Kashmir dispute, expressing willingness to work with both
Pakistan and India.

In a message posted on social media platform X on Sunday, President
Trump stated, “I will work together with Pakistan and India to help
resolve the Kashmir issue.”

He also expressed interest in expanding trade ties with both
neighbouring nuclear power countries, calling the recent ceasefire a
critical step toward de-escalation.

“The leadership of both Pakistan and India understands that it’s time to
stop the fighting,” Trump said, adding that continued conflict could
have led to massive destruction and loss of life.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan acknowledged the
Trump administration’s role in facilitating the ceasefire. In a tweet,
he praised the agreement as “the beginning of a wider movement towards
peace, prosperity, and stability in the region”.

He expressed Pakistan’s gratitude to President Trump, along with Vice
President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, for their
“leadership and proactive role” in bringing about this outcome.

“Pakistan appreciates the United States for facilitating this outcome,
which we have accepted in the interest of regional peace and stability,”
